CPM: Regional Support Specialist


The Regional Support Specialist (RSS) will be assigned a section of the larger region. The RSS serves as the point of contact for the sites in their section and maintains records about the CPM activities to advise the RPLC decision making concerning the sites. The RSS is a member of the regional professional learning team.

  1. Support the RLPC with knowledge of the assigned regional section.

    • Know the mathematics frameworks, standards, and standardized assessment systems within your regional section and how CPM aligns with these.

    • Know the local educational agency systems within your regional section.

    • Know the university mathematics teacher educator programs within your regional area.

    • Know where CPM is present within your regional section, including the stage of CPM activity at each site.

  2. Build and maintain professional relationships as CPM’s point of contact within the assigned regional section.

    • Communicate with district math coordinators, curriculum coordinators, assistant superintendents for instruction, and teachers at CPM sites.

    • Maintain ongoing relationships with districts that are beyond the first few years of implementation.

    • Establish model implementation sites within the regional sub-area.

      • Pair districts looking for model CPM sites with those model sites.

    • Conduct CPM program overview presentations.

    • Advise site-based leadership teams as assigned.

  3. Work with the RPLC to implement the Professional Learning Progression for CPM Sites within the assigned region.

    • Determine workshop needs in regional section.

    • Determine needs for Implementation Support Visits as needed. Collaborate with the RPLC to ensure there is capacity for the visits.

    • Collaborate with RPLC to identify Professional Learning Specialists available to serve as Implementation Partners for identified sites.

  4. Serve as a role model and representative for CPM.

    • Represent CPM at local and regional conferences as assigned.

    • Conduct CPM program overview presentations for schools and districts as assigned.

    • Present sessions or staff the booth at conferences as assigned.

    • Attend internal professional learning sessions offered by CPM.
