Thank you for your overwhelming support. We hope you will join us in 2020. Consider submitting a proposal to present at the 2020 conference, which will be the last weekend in February. Speaker Proposals will open on March 1st, 2019.
We have other professional learning opportunities available including our Academy of Best Practices for veteran teachers and our Residential Workshop which includes Phase 1, 2, and 3, Coaching, and District Support workshops.

From an inspiring keynote address to interactive sessions, this conference will offer you ideas and strategies to take back to the classroom and use right away. You will experience two days of sessions led by CPM authors, teachers, administrators, teacher-leaders, and others who will share their experience and expertise, providing insights into best practices in teaching mathematics.

2019 KEYNOTE SPEAKER: DR. Christopher Danielson

Christopher Danielson leads the activity development for CPM’s Core Connections, Course 1, Core Connections, Course 2 and Core Connections, Course 3 eBooks. He has taught math to learners of all ages, and now uses his PhD in mathematics education to create books and toys to support children’s math learning.

Christopher is a recipient of the Mathical Book Prize and the Roueche Award for Teaching Excellence. He is the developer of Math-On-A-Stick, an annual family math event at the Minnesota State Fair. He is the author of Which One Doesn’t Belong?, How Many?, and Common Core Math for Parents for Dummies.

Assessment Strategies

Are your assessments aligned with instruction?  How does assessment impact student learning? Spend the day exploring and discussing important assessment topics and leave with a process for deciding what and when to assess in a CPM classroom.

Topics will include:

  • An in-depth look at the purpose of formative and summative assessment and their impact on student learning.

  • The impact of grading practices and the case for rubric scoring

  • Assessment timing in a CPM classroom

  • Interpreting student work

Coaching - for Leaders who Support Teachers using CPM

A one day professional learning event for coaches, curriculum specialists, math department chairs, or other teacher support personnel. All leaders who are working with teachers using CPM or other student centered math programs at the secondary level are welcome. An onlinecommunity will be created for those who wish to have ongoing conversations. Topics will include:

  • Teacher and student roles. What should they look like?

  • Building your coaching toolbox. What might coaching sessions with a math teacher look like?  

  • Supporting collaborative teacher teams, modeling how teachers support collaborative student teams  

  • Simplifying the process for teachers...helping teachers make connections

  • Working with all stakeholders – administrators, parents, and community

Study Teams 2.0: Maximizing Student Engagement and Achievement through Effective and Equitable Student Study Teams

This session is for middle and high school CPM teachers who are looking to get more out of their study teams.   The focus will be on planning for the upcoming year using current research on student motivation and engagement while exploring and practicing routines and tools that:

1) develop a safe and collaborative learning environment

2) develop effective and equitable student study teams
