Building on Foundations
for Implementation

This live event is intended for participants who have experience using CPM. If you are new to CPM, please enroll in a Foundations for Implementation live event instead.

What Will I Learn?

Content Sessions

Content Sessions provide participants the opportunity to collaborate and engage with the mathematical storyline of the course(s) they teach with an experienced CPM classroom teacher.

These live sessions offer course specific support via a walk through of the chapter to gain insight into how it fits into the mathematical storyline of the course. Content Sessions offer additional support in conjunction with the On-Demand Content Modules available through the Professional Learning Portal.

Learn to Use Algebra Tiles

In this two-hour virtual session, participants will learn how students build their conceptual understanding of simplifying algebraic expressions and solving equations using these tools which are a concrete, geometric representation of algebraic concepts.

Objectives include the following:

  • determining perimeter
  • combining like terms
  • comparing expressions
  • solving equations
  • using an area model to multiply, factor, and complete the square

The tiles support the transition from a concrete (manipulative) representation to an abstract model of mathematics.
