How to use these
Three steps, about a minute
STEP 01
Find the course
The course name is on the front of the book and in myCPM. Open that course below.
STEP 02
Open the chapter
Chapter numbers match the book. If homework says Chapter 4, open Chapter 4.
STEP 03
Work an example together
Each file starts with a worked example, then practice, then answers. Try one before checking.

Find Your Student’s Course
Guided Skill Supports are organized by chapter and topic, and aligned to Core Connections 3rd Edition. Each one opens with a topic overview, then works through examples with complete solutions, then offers practice problems with answers, so a student can review a skill without waiting for the next class. Common questions
Before you start
Do I need to know the math to help?
No. Every file works an example first, so you can read it alongside your student. The goal is to get them talking through their thinking, not to teach the lesson yourself.
Are the answers included?
Yes. Answers are at the end of each file so a family can check work together rather than waiting for class.
Can I print these?
Yes. Every file is a PDF and prints cleanly. Nothing here needs a login.
Are they available in Spanish?
Spanish versions exist for Course 1, Course 2 and Course 3. Other courses are English only for now.
How is this different from homework?
These are extra practice, not assignments. Use them when a skill needs another pass, or before a test.

CPM Words, Explained
Study team
Two to four students who work together every day. Each has an assigned role, and they change teams often.
Review & Preview
The homework in Core Connections. It mixes in older topics on purpose, so it will not always match the day’s lesson.
Reflection & Practice
The same thing as Review & Preview, but in Inspiring Connections.
Checkpoint
A marked skill check in the book, with worked examples and answers, so a student can test what they actually know.
Math Notes
The boxes with the definitions and formulas. They appear after students have worked with an idea, not before.
Methods & Meanings
The newer name for Math Notes. Same thing.
Toolkit
A notebook a student builds through the course, with their notes, examples, and diagrams in one place.
Mathematician’s Notebook
The Inspiring Connections version of the Toolkit.
Parent Guide
Worked examples for specific homework problems. Find it in the eBook under Reference, then Student Support.
Guided Skill Supports
Extra practice organized by chapter, for Core Connections courses.
Skill Builders

Tools and Topics

A test taken together as a team, usually before the individual test.
